Genu Berlo is an American painter of Romanian heritage, operating between Bucharest and New York City. His formation is mixed: a Bachelor's in Mathematics (1997), a Bachelor's in Architecture from the University of Bucharest (2001), and continuing Fine Arts studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC (2003). Upon his arrival in New York City in 2000, for over a decade he worked as a design architect at some of New York's most prestigious firms, including the globally iconic Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). In 2012 he left that world to commit fully to painting. Since then he exhibited across Romania and beyond: solo shows at Gallery Studio 76, Atelier030202 and Palazzo Vimana; group exhibitions at Galateca, Grumazescu, Contempora, Palatul Brancovenesc Mogoșoaia, Orion; institutional appearances at the National Museum of Maps (Bucharest), the Nicolae Simache Clock Museum (Ploiești), the Municipal Museum Regina Maria (Iași),
Art Museum Casa Simian
(Râmnicu Vâlcea), and the Inbe Art Space Museum in Yoshinogawa, Japan.
